The Große Köllnsee is a small natural lake in the natural area of the Neustrelitz Kleinseenland and in the Uckermärkische Seen nature park in the Uckermark district ( Brandenburg ). It is located in the district of Retzow , a district of the city of Lychen .
Geographical location and hydrography
With its longer axis, the lake extends over 360 m from southwest to northeast. The largest width is about 160 m. Its mean lake level is 61.1 m. It lies in the course of the Schulzenseegraben of a left tributary of the Thymenfließ , which in turn flows into the Godenberger Mühlenbach-Hegensteinfließ , a tributary of the Havel . The Schulzenseegraben begins east of the Schulzensee near Rutenbergs and flows through the Kleiner Köllnsee after the Großer Köllnsee .
history
The lake was first mentioned in a document as early as 1299 ( stagnum Grote Kelle ). In addition to 38 other lakes mentioned by name, it was part of the initial equipment of the Himmelpfort monastery . With this donation from the Brandenburg Margrave Albrecht III. the sole fishing and usage rights. The name is derived from mnd. ladle = large ladle, after the rounded shape of the lake. The addition large was created to distinguish it from the slightly smaller Kleiner Köllnsee , which is only 170 m west of it.
