The 1953 Monza Grand Prix , also called VI Gran Premio dell 'Autodromo Gara Internazionale Monza , took place on June 29th at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza . The race was not part of any racing series.

The race

The Monza Grand Prix was a sports car race that took place on the Monza circuit without the banked turns. 70 laps to be driven resulted in a total distance of 441 km. The race had two races over 35 laps each. The results were added to an overall rating. It was only driven in the class for sports cars up to 3.0-liter displacement; Driver changes were not permitted.

Both Ferrari and Lancia were represented with works cars and their top drivers at the time. Luigi Villoresi secured the overall standings in a Ferrari 250MM Pinin Farina Berlinetta ahead of Felice Bonetto , who drove a Lancia D23 , and his team and type colleague Giuseppe Farina , who came third.
