The Great Reinhard is a 2790 m above sea level. A. high mountain peaks of the Prettaukamm in the Venediger group . The alpine-insignificant summit lies on the Italian - Austrian border. The mountain flanks of the Großer Reinhard are protected in the Hohe Tauern National Park and the Rieserferner-Ahrn Nature Park .

The Große Reinhard lies on the border between the South Tyrolean community of Sand in Taufers in the west and the East Tyrolean community of St. Jakob in Defereggen in the east. In relation to the Prettaukamm, the Große Reinhard is located in the southwest. The north-western neighbor of the Großer Reinhard is the southern summit of the Gabelspitze ( 3,071 m above sea level ), whose southeast ridge runs to the Großer Reinhard. The southern ridge of the Gabelspitze runs to the Kleine Reinhard ( 2631 m ) to the west of the Großer Reinhard . A prominent ridge tower, known as “ Mutti ”, rises up from this ridge . To the south of the Großer Reinhard lies the Arventalalm and the headwaters of the Brunnerbach flowing westwards , and to the east is the valley of the Arventalbach .
