Prettau and Glockhauskamm

The Prettaukamm is a mountain ridge of the Venediger group in the border area between Austria ( East Tyrol ) and Italy ( South Tyrol ). The highest peak of the Prettaukamm is the Spoon Point ( 3190  m above sea level ). The entire mountain ridge is protected by the Hohe Tauern National Park and the Rieserferner-Ahrn Nature Park . Due to the lack of support points, the remote area is rarely used for alpine purposes.

location

The Prettaukamm, named after the municipality of Prettau in the rear Ahrntal , is located in the southwest of the Venediger group. In the south, the Klammljoch separates the Prettaukamm from the Rieserferner group , from where the Prettaukamm begins in a curved shape to the north. Bounded by the Arvental in the east and the Alprechscharte in the west, the Prettaukamm initially runs over the Großer Reinhard and the Gabelspitze to the northwest, before it swings to the northeast over the Arventalspitze, Arventalscharte, Lenkspitze, Merbjoch and Merbspitze. From the Merbspitze, the Prettaukamm then runs over the Merb- and Rötfleckenscharte to the southeast to the Löffelspitze, where the Glockhauskamm branches off to the south. The Prettaukamm, on the other hand, continues in a north-easterly direction via Löfelgratscharte, Purtschellerspitze, Kematerspitze and Rotenmannjoch to the Rötspitze , where the Prettaukamm meets the Umbalkamm . The Prettaukamm is bounded in the north by the Röttal.

In the area of the Spoonspitze there is a small glacier with the Rötfleckkees to the north. Another glacier is the Rötkees in the Rötspitze area.
