The Kemetspitze , also Kemater or Kematerspitze , is a 3004 m above sea level. A. high mountain peaks of the Prettaukamm in the Venediger group . The summit lies on the Italian-Austrian border and was first climbed in 1891 by EO Freytag with M. Reden.

The Kemetspitz is located on the Italian-Austrian border or on the border of the East Tyrolean municipality of St. Jakob in Defereggen ( Lienz district ) in the south and the municipality of Prettau ( South Tyrol ) in the north. The mountain summit in the northeast of the Prettaukamm ridge is crossed by the Kematerscharte ( 2934 m above sea level ) from the Kleiner Löffler ( 3045 m above sea level ) to the west and the Rotenmannjoch ( 2887 m above sea level ) from the Rötspitze ( 3496 m above sea level ) separately. The South Tyrolean Röttal runs north of the Kemetspitze and the Schwarzachtal to the south. The mountain flanks of the Kemetspitze are protected by the Hohe Tauern National Park and the Rieserferner-Ahrn Nature Park .
Promotion opportunities
The easiest way to climb the Kemetspitze starts in the Schwarzachtal, which can be reached from South Tyrol via the Klammljoch or from East Tyrol via the Oberhaus alpine inn (St. Jakob in Defereggen). The ascent through the Schwarzachtal follows the Schwarzach to the head of the valley. The ascent to the Kematerscharte takes place from a height of around 2500 meters, with the short final ascent to the summit via the southwest ridge ( I ).
