The Affentalbach or Arventalbach rises at the head of the Affental valley, flows through the area of the municipality of St. Jakob in Defereggen ( Lienz district ) and flows southeast of the Jagdhausalm into the Schwarzach .
The Affentalbach rises in the Venedigergruppe between steering tip , Merbspitze , spoon tip and Glock house and extending in the sequence in a southerly direction through the valley, where he right and left side numerous unnamed inflows receives one of the radicals which Affentalkees dewatered. On his way he passes the Arventalalm (also Affentalalpe 2462 m above sea level ) and turns south-east of it in a south-westerly direction. In the lower reaches it forms the border to the Rieserferner group (orographic right) and passes the Jagdhausalm ( 2009 m above sea level ) before it flows into the Schwarzach a short time later.
It is a typical high mountain stream that flows through a glacial trough valley with an average slope of 8.6%. Its course is characterized by flat areas with short branches and by gorge-like bottlenecks with cascades and falls. The vegetation ranges from alpine lawn communities to extensively used meadows and alpine pastures. The state of the bank has largely been preserved, only in the area above the Jagdhausalmen were the banks secured by throwing blocks to protect the forest path.
