location

The Löfflergrat lies on the border between the South Tyrolean municipality of Prettau in the north and the East Tyrolean municipality of St. Jakob in Defereggen ( Lienz district ) in the south. In relation to the Prettaukamm, the Löfflergrat lies in the northern center. In the northeast, the Löfflergratscharte ( 2968  m above sea level ) separates the Löfflergrat from the Kleiner Löffelspitze ( 3045  m above sea level ), with the northeast summit ( 3124  m above sea level ) lying between the main or southwest peak and the Löfflergratscharte . In the northwest, the Rötfleckscharte ( 2855  m above sea level ) and Merbscharte ( 2845  m above sea level ) mark the transition to the Merbspitze ( 3090  m above sea level ). To the south, the Löfflerscharte separates the Löfflergrat from the Spoonspitze ( 3190  m above sea level ). The north side of the Löfflergrat falls north to the Röttal, to the southeast is the Schwarzach valley of the Schwarzach , to the southwest is the Arvental with the Arventalbach . The mountain flanks of the Löfflergrat are protected by the Hohe Tauern National Park and the Rieserferner-Ahrn Nature Park . The Rötfleckkees extends on the northern slopes of the Löfflergrat between Merbspitze, Löfflergrat and Kleiner Spoonspitze.

Promotion opportunities

The Oberhausalm in the Schwarzachtal is a suitable starting point for the ascent of the Löfflergrat, from which the ascent is initially to the northwest towards the Jagdhausalm . When ascending through the Schwarzachtal, you climb over the remains of the glacier into the Löfflergratscharte and then follow the northeast ridge ( II ) to the main summit of the Löfflergrat. However, the Löfflergrat is seldom the main destination, but mostly crossed when climbing the spoon tip. Further possibilities to climb the Löfflergrat are with the ascent from the Rötfleckscharte over the northwest ridge ( II ) or with the northwest climb from the inner Röttalpe ( II ).
