description
The Großer Seeloch is one of three red sandstone falls on the Seeberg and is filled with water. It has been under official nature protection since September 15, 1936. The circular lake has a circumference of about 650 meters and is up to 17 meters deep. An artificial black alder - and spruce belt encircles the today sinkhole . In the 19th century there was a floating island overgrown with trees on the large lake hole . This was 52 m long and 15 m wide and had the shape of a sickle . This floating island has gradually crumbled, with some pieces of lawn in the shore area still being seen as former remains.
Small sea hole
The small lake hole is about 60 m west of the large lake hole. It is dry and overgrown with bushes and trees. The bottom of the sinkhole is swampy . The precipitation seeps away or evaporates gradually. The small lake hole, which is also under nature protection, has a circumference of around 204 meters. The edge of the bank is overgrown with old plum trees , softwoods and birches . The third sinkhole on the Seeberg is the Moosloch. It is located about 170 m northwest of the Kleiner Seeloches.
Flora and fauna
Rudd , carp , pike , eel , crucian carp and tench are found in the large lake hole . The use as fishing waters was left to the AG-Hesserode. Water lilies have roots in the bank area .
