Kronskamp stone grave

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The large stone grave Kronskamp was a megalithic grave system of the Neolithic funnel cup culture near Kronskamp , a district of Laage in the Rostock district ( Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania ). It was destroyed in 1874.

location

The grave was located east of Kronskamp "in the large meadow of the Reknitzthales , 80 feet from the field, at the foot of a rather high mountain, which there is called the Temple Mount". Only a few kilometers to the east were the large stone graves near Laage , which were also destroyed in the 19th century .

description

The facility was removed and examined in 1874. It had a burial chamber that was 8 feet long and 6 feet wide. The orientation is not recorded. The chamber had large granite wall stones and a single massive capstone. It should therefore have been an enlarged dolmen . The interior of the chamber was not examined down to the ground because of the high groundwater level.

Some bones from the burials were still present, which have not been identified. The only addition was found a thick nackiges trapezoidal flint - ax . Today it is in the collection of the Archaeological State Museum Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in Schwerin .
