The Großsteingrab Wulfen (also Großsteingrab Hoher Berg ) is a Neolithic stone grave on the "Hohen Berg" in Wulfen , a current part of the municipality of Osternienburger Land in the Anhalt-Bitterfeld district ( Saxony-Anhalt ). It dates back to the Walternienburg-Bernburg culture .

description

Originally there were two large stone graves in Wulfen, but one of them was destroyed in 1883. The preserved complex belongs to the type of passage graves . It consists of eight wall and three cap stones. The length of the grave is 3.60 m. On the south side there is an access to the burial chamber. The grave was discovered and opened in 1784. The finds made in the process are now in the Koethen Museum and testify to the long-term use of the tomb. These include flint artifacts and pottery of the Neolithic Walternienburg-Bernburg Culture (3200-2800 v. Chr.), House and face-pots from the early Iron Age (800-450 v. Chr.) And body burials of the Migration Period Niemberger group (4.- 5th century AD). During follow-up examinations in 1912 a cup from the Bernburg culture was found.
