The Groot Open Top Eco 5000 , or OTECO 5000 for short , is a series cargo ship type from the marine engineering office Groot Ship Design in Leek .

history

First, four units of the type were the Leer Briese at the shipyard Zhejiang Shipbuilding Company Zengzhou in Zhoushan ordered, the delivery was scheduled from December 2017 to July 2018. These first four units of the type - the first newbuildings for the Briese shipping company since the shipping crisis - went into service from February to December 2018 and another four are in the planning stage.

technology

The motor ships of the Groot Open Top Eco 5000 type are designed as open top multi-purpose dry cargo ships with a rounded deckhouse arranged over the forecastle and a long hold without its own cargo gear . The type has a largely box-shaped loading space with a volume of 6347 m³, which is set up for the transport of containers . The tank roof , which can be loaded with up to 17 t / m², is reinforced for cargo handling and the transport of heavy goods . The continuous hatch is closed by pontoon hatch covers, which can be opened and moved individually by a hatch car. The hatch car has two provision cranes with a load of 1 t each.

The ships of the series are powered by a MaK eight-cylinder four-stroke diesel engine of the type 8M20C, manufactured under license in Anqing, with an output of around 1600 kW, which acts via a reduction gear on a variable-pitch propeller and a shaft generator with 413 kVA output. There are also two Sisu auxiliary diesels, each with an output of 134 kW, and an emergency diesel with an output of 100 kW. The berthing and casting off maneuvers are supported by a bow thruster .

The ice-reinforced hulls were assembled in a sectional construction. The ships have a Groot Cross-Bow- Steven slightly drawn in above the waterline , which merges into the deckhouse .

The units of the series operated under the flag of the Netherlands are approved for worldwide travel and are also suitable for the transport of project cargoes, bulk cargo, bulk cargo and containers.
