The Grosspeter Tower is a skyscraper built from 2014 to 2017 in the Swiss city of Basel . The combined residential and commercial building has 78 meters or 21 floors and has a total floor space of around 17,400 square meters.
A geothermal probe field supplies the heat pump heating and cooling machine with geothermal energy. Photovoltaic surfaces are integrated into the closed facade surfaces and on the roof. The construction, which began on November 10, 2014, was completed in 2017 and ready for occupancy.
The Grosspeter Tower is named after the Grosspeter area in the St. Alban district of Basel and is located near the Basel SBB train station . Located directly at the A2 and A3 motorway junctions, the Grosspeter Tower forms the new gateway to the city of Basel and marks the entrance to the city. The structure has a five-storey and 23 meters wide base structure from which the actual tower grows. In the base area there is a hotel with a usable area of around 6300 square meters. The remaining usable area of 11,100 square meters is intended for rental and commercial units. The high-rise has 153 garage parking spaces .
The architecture office Degelo Architekten was initially responsible for the design . The order was then transferred to Burckhardt und Partner AG .
