Grotto sky
So-called grotto heavens ( Chinese 洞天 , Pinyin dòngtiān , English grotto-heavens ) are places of residence of the saints or immortals ( 神仙 , shenxian ) in Daoism . These sacred places , also known in China as Dongtian fudi ( 洞天福地 , dòngtiān-fúdì - "grotto heaven and happy places"), are the ten large grotto heavens (Shi da dongtian 十大 洞天), the thirty-six small grotto heavens (Sanshiliu xiao dongtian 三 十六 小)洞天) and the seventy-two lucky places (Qishi'er fudi 七 十二 福地).
A large part of these holy places are in the work Dongtian fudi yueze mingshan ji ( 洞天福地 嶽澤 名山 記 - "Report on cave skies , happy places, holy mountains, marshes and famous mountains"; DZ 599) by Du Guangting杜光庭 and the Dongtian fudi ji ( 洞天福地 記 - “Report on Grotto Heaven and Happy Places”; DZ ) recorded by Sima Chengzhen from the time of the Tang Dynasty . Famous mountain ranges or mountains where these sacred places are located are Qingcheng Shan , Mao Shan , Luofu Shan , Tai Shan , Hua Shan , Heng Shan , Zhongnan Shan , Longhu Shan , etc.
