The Bavaria mine is a former non-ferrous metal ore mine in the Bensberg ore district in Overath . It was found in the village of Oberbech in Steinenbrück .

history

The Langenfeld Bavaria was on 5 June 1856 galena , chalcopyrite and siderite awarded Service. It was a tunnel that is referred to in literature as a "non-built passage " .

Location and relics

The Bavaria tunnel can be found on a map from 1868 together with the Hermann mine tunnel . In the geological deposit map of 1882 it appears as an iron ore vein. Nothing is known about the former owners and operations of the mine. The tunnel mouth hole is located on private property in Heidermühle and is closed with brickwork. On the meadow terrain rising to the south, you can see the ping from an air shaft . About 10 meters west of the Bavaria tunnel is the broken tunnel mouth hole of the Hermann pit.

The consolidation Bavaria

On August 13, 1859, the Längenfeld Bavaria was consolidated with another 28 iron ore mines as the Bavaria mine . The consolidated Bavaria mine was awarded on January 31, 1860 for iron and manganese ores . It consisted of a total of 29 individual fields, which were distributed in the Immekeppel , Linde , Engelskirchen and Heiligenhaus areas. Details of the operation are not known.
