The Henricus mine was a non-ferrous metal ore mine in the Bensberg ore district in Rösrath in the Hopesthal district . The Henricus mine area extended in the vicinity of Lehmbach.

history

Heinrich Friedrich Stuewer from Hamburg submitted a first request for encouragement under the name Heinrich Friedrich on May 10, 1853 for lead , zinc and copper ore . A six- inch thick copper gravel dike uncovered for the field inspection on May 24, 1853 was not enough for an award . Another request for encouragement from Theodore Guillery on behalf of the Rheinische Bergwerk-Gesellschaft Saturn was unsuccessful, although an ore deposit was present. It was not until May 26, 1866 that a square on copper with the name Henricus was awarded to the applicant mentioned above.

Operation and facilities

There is no information about the operating time, flow rates, etc. At the foot of the mountain slope behind today's Lehmbacher Hof restaurant there was a test tunnel , which is no longer accessible. All other traces of mining in the area have been lost due to the ongoing development.
