The Herkenrath mine is a former sulfur gravel mine in the Bensberg ore district in Bergisch Gladbach . The request for encouragement with the name Herkenrath for sulfur pebbles dates from March 15, 1864. The award took place on July 7, 1868. The Herkenrath mine field completely or partially covered the mine fields Bergmännische Freiheit , Blücher , Gilead , Hindihs , Josua , Smyrna , Wilhelminenzeche and expanded from Herkenrath to the Strundetal . The point of discovery was at the intersection of the streets Im Fronhof, Dietrich-von-Dorendorp-Straße and Arnold-von-Lülsdorf-Straße. All relics have disappeared through the development. Nothing is known about the operating activities.
