The Klaproth mine was a non-ferrous metal ore mine in the Bensberg ore district in Bergisch Gladbach in the Bockenberg district . The Klaproth mine stretched in the upper part of the Wahlbach in the Königsforst near the road to Forsbach (L 288).
history
Clear traces in the terrain indicate centuries of mining . At the same time, the nearby Wahlbach has made a greater depth outcrop with its sometimes considerable water inflows difficult or even prevented it. The mining claim Klaproth was first on 25 March 1855 the 1837 by the Belgian banker and industrialist François-Dominique Mosselman founded " Société Anonyme des Mines et Fonderies de Zinc de la Vieille-Montagne " (Society of the Old Mountain) muted . After several further unsuccessful efforts, the award of lead , copper and zinc ores took place on July 25, 1866 .
Operation and facilities
Nothing is known about the operation of the mine because so far no written documents have been found. On the other hand, the tracks in the terrain are clear. A younger manhole dump about 100 meters west of the L 288 with two neighboring pings , the excavation of which partially covers an older manhole, is clearly visible . Remnants of Setzbergen in the old heaps show ore processing at this point. However, there are no clear traces of the point of discovery (see coordinates).
