Grusonia grahamii is a species of plant in the genus Grusonia fromthe cactus family (Cactaceae). The specific epithet grahamii honors honors the American topographer and Colonel James Duncan Graham (1799–1865), who commanded the scientific corps to survey the border between the United States and Mexico. English common names are "Graham's Club Cactus", "Graham's Dog Cactus" and "Mounded Dwarf Cholla".

Grusonia grahamii grows low and forms mats 8 to 20 centimeters high. The roots are bulbous. The cylindrical, curved and narrowed to their base shoot sections are covered with narrow, 1 to 1.5 centimeter long cusps. The shoot sections are 3 to 7.5 inches long and 1.5 to 3.5 inches in diameter. The circular areoles are covered with white to yellowish wool and white to yellow, up to 6 millimeters long and very numerous glochids on the lower areoles . The six to 15 white to reddish brown spines are mostly on the areoles near the shoot tips. The upper thorns are ascending, spreading and round, the lower thorns are white, protruding, the ones at the edge are bent downwards and angular to flattened to slightly round.

The bright yellow flowers reach lengths of 2 to 2.5 centimeters. The cylindrical to ellipsoidal, yellowish fruits are fleshy and covered with yellow glochids. They are 2.5 to 3.5 inches long.

Distribution, systematics and endangerment

Grusonia grahamii is common in the vegetation of the Chihuahua Desert in the United States in southern New Mexico and southwest Texas, as well as in the Mexican states of Chihuahua and Durango .

It was first described as Opuntia grahamii in 1856 by George Engelmann . Harold Ernest Robinson placed the species in 1973 in the genus Grusonia . A synonyms is Opuntia schottii var. Grahamii (Engelm.) LDBenson (1969).

In the Red List of Threatened Species of the IUCN , the species is listed as " Least Concern (LC) ". H. listed as not endangered. The development of the populations is considered stable.
