Jaroslaw Alexejewitsch Kossow ( Russian Ярослав Алексеевич Косов ; born July 5, 1993 in Magnitogorsk ) is a Russian ice hockey player who has been under contract with HK Traktor Chelyabinsk in the Continental Hockey League since August 2019 .
Career
Jaroslaw Kossow began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the youth department of HK Metallurg Magnitogorsk . In the KHL Junior Draft 2010 he was selected by his home club in the third round as the 70th player, so that his transfer rights could not be acquired by another KHL team. For the youth team of HK Metallurg he was active in the 2010/11 season in the multinational youth league Molodjoschnaja Chokkeinaja Liga . In this he scored 28 scorer points in a total of 59 games, including 17 goals, and reached the playoff final for the Kharlamov Cup with the team . He was then selected in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft in the fifth round as the 124th player of the Florida Panthers . In the 2011/12 season , the winger made his debut for the professional team of HK Metallurg Magnitogorsk in the Continental Hockey League . In 2014 Kossow won the KHL championship trophy , the Gagarin Cup , with Metallurg, and in 2016 he repeated this success with Metallurg.
During the 2017/18 season he moved to Ak Bars Kazan within the KHL and won the Gagarin Cup again with Ak Bars at the end of the season. In May 2018, Kossow did not get a new contract with Ak Bars because he had previously been stopped for drunk driving .
In September 2018, Kossow was exchanged for Dmitri Yudin from HK Spartak Moscow . At Spartak he played until the beginning of December 2018 before he was signed by Neftechimik Nizhnekamsk . For Neftechimik he was used in only four games until the end of the season, as he was released from his contract after a fight in a hotel in Kazan.
In August 2019, he took part in the HK Traktor Chelyabinsk training camp , where he finally received a two-year contract.
