Nikita Sergeyevich Scherbak ( Russian: Никита Сергеевич Щербак ; English transcription: Nikita Sergeyevich Scherbak ; born December 30, 1995 in Moscow ) is a Russian ice hockey player who has been under contract with HK Traktor Chelyabinsk from the Continental Hockey League since November 2019 and there on the position of right winger plays.
Career
Shcherbak began his career with Kapitan Stupino . In 2013 the striker moved to North America. There he played from 2013 to 2015 for the Saskatoon Blades and the Everett Silvertips in the Western Hockey League . In the NHL Entry Draft 2014 , the Canadiens de Montréal selected him in the first round in 26th position.
The Canadiens signed Shcherbak in July 2014 and will be using the forward from 2015 on their farm team , the St. John's IceCaps , in the American Hockey League . On January 7, 2017, Shcherbak made his debut in the National Hockey League (NHL) in the original six derby against the Toronto Maple Leafs and scored his first NHL goal.
In December 2018, the attacker should be sent again to the AHL, but he had to go through the waiver and was committed by the Los Angeles Kings . There he spent most of the rest of the season on the Ontario Reign farm team . In June 2019 he returned to his home country from the Continental Hockey League after signing a contract with HK Awangard Omsk . In November of the same year he switched to HK Tractor Chelyabinsk within the KHL .
