Ivan Anatoljewitsch Savin ( Russian Иван Анатольевич Савин ; born January 4, 1981 in Chelyabinsk , Russian SFSR ) is a Russian ice hockey player who was most recently under contract with Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg in the Continental Hockey League .
Career
Ivan Savin began his career as a hockey player at HK Metschel Chelyabinsk , for which he was active in the Russian Super League from 1998 to 2001 . Since he could not prevail there, however, he moved in 2001 to their city rivals HK tractor Chelyabinsk in the second-rate Wysschaja Liga , with which he rose in the 2005/06 season in the Super League. Nevertheless, he moved to HK MWD Tver after the promotion . In the summer of 2007, the defender received a contract with the reigning champions HK Metallurg Magnitogorsk , with whom he won the IIHF European Champions Cup in 2008. Since the 2008/09 season Sawin played for HK Spartak Moscow in the newly founded Continental Hockey League . In 2010 he returned to Chelyabinsk before he was committed to the 2011/12 season by Neftechimik Nizhnekamsk .
In December 2011 he moved to Awtomobilist Yekaterinburg , where his current contract was terminated in August 2012.
