Grzegorz Sobczyk (born February 10, 1981 in Zakopane ) is a former Polish ski jumper and today's ski jumping coach. In his career he represented three clubs, the SKS Start Zakopane , the WKS Zakopane and the KS AZS-AWF Katowice .

Career

In his youth Sobczyk achieved some good results; so he finished 11th at the Junior World Championships in 1999 in Saalfelden . In 2002 he came three times in the top 10 at the Polish championships. His debut in the Continental Cup he made in 2001 and finished 51st and 67th in his first two competitions. Two years later he made his debut in a competition in Zakopane in the ski jumping world cup , which he finished in 46th place. He then belonged to the Polish A team in the 2003/2004 season, but never jumped in the World Cup again. His best placings were two ninth places in two FIS races in Karpacz (January 2004) and in Zakopane (December 2004). After retiring from ski jumping in 2007, he has been the assistant coach of the Polish national ski jumping team since the 2010/11 season .

Sobczyk now lives unmarried in his hometown Zakopane.
