The Guggenberger See is located approx. 1 km east of the city of Neutraubling in the district of Regensburg . In 2004 the lake was added to the list of EU bathing waters and received the top rating for water quality from 2004 to 2007 inclusive. The water area is 53.9 hectares , with a circumference of three kilometers. The former quarry pond was originally created artificially for gravel extraction and is now used as a local recreation area. In the summer months up to 10,000 visitors are recorded on the weekends.

General

The lake has three access roads. 1800 parking spaces are available for visitors. Cyclists and pedestrians can also reach Guggenberger See from the north-west by using a bridge. An unpaved path that is unlit at night then leads towards the lake.

There is a bar on the west bank and a kiosk on the east bank in the immediate vicinity of the DLRG guard station.

Attractions

About 30 meters from the west bank there are two platforms in the water that can be reached via rope ladders. A little away from the actual lake is a skate park on the north bank, consisting of a concrete box. On the west bank at the level of a bar there is a beach volleyball court and a jetty into the lake that is open to the general public. There are two volleyball courts and several barbecue areas by the lake.

activities

The Guggenberger See is not a pure bathing lake. Swimming is only permitted in the designated bathing areas, which are located on all four sides of the lake. Stationary sanitary facilities are available at the bathing areas.

The boundaries of the bathing zones also represent the outer boundary of the sailing and windsurfing zone. Entrance to this zone is only possible from the properties of the local sailing clubs. Diving entry and exit is only permitted on the Guggenberger See in the designated diving zone on the southeastern bank.

From 2010 to 2014 inclusive, the Ironman Regensburg swimming competition took place at Lake Guggenberger See .

In 2016, the swim course of the triathlon " Challenge Regensburg " took place at Guggenberger See.

The lake is supervised by the Neutraubling water rescue service with a guard station on the south bank and the DLRG Regensburg with a guard station on the east bank.

Others

In July 2006, the Mittelbayerische Zeitung reported on a plague of American crabs on Lake Guggenberg after the shallow bank areas were covered with thousands of crabs.
