Guido Forti (born July 10, 1940 in Alessandria ; † January 11, 2013 ibid) was an Italian racing car driver and motorsport manager. He was the owner of the Forti Corse racing team named after him , which competed in Formula 1 , among other things .

Motorsport

Guido Forti founded his own racing team in 1977, which initially competed in the Italian Formula Ford Championship. In 1980 the team was involved in the South American Formula 3 Championship for a few years before switching to the Italian series . In 1987 Franco Forini became Italian Formula 3 champion for Forti. In the same year , Fortis began involvement in Formula 3000 , to which the team was a member until 1994 . During these years, Forti was an integral part of the Formula 3000 series, which was characterized by high fluctuation. However, the team was unable to win a championship title, although it had many high-performing drivers such as Nicola Larini or Gianni Morbidelli under contract.

In the course of 1992 , Guido Forti first thought about his team's promotion to Formula 1. For reasons of advertising effectiveness , he initially considered building a women's team around the Italian racing driver Giovanna Amati ; however, the plans could not be implemented.

In 1994 the Brazilian-Italian businessman Carlo Ganzia joined Guido Forti's team. With the financial support of Ganzia and the Brazilian racing driver Pedro Diniz , Forti Corse was promoted to Formula 1 at the beginning of the 1995 season. Forti was unable to build on previous successes. The team only contested 27 races and did not score any world championship points. The team finished its first season third from bottom of the constructors' championship. The second season could not end normally: The racing team had to close in the summer of 1996 due to financial difficulties. Guido Forti had previously lost the majority stake to an Irish investor called Shannon .

In 1997, after a legal dispute over the ownership of the team in favor of Shannons, Guido Forti suffered a heart attack. After his recovery, Forti led a team in the Euro Formula 3000, a forerunner of the Auto GP World Series, in 2002 and 2003 .

Guido Forti died on January 11, 2013 at the age of 72.
