Guilherme Madalena Siqueira (born April 28, 1986 in Florianópolis ) is a former Brazilian soccer player .

Career

Guilherme Siqueira played for Figueirense FC , Ipatinga FC and on loan at Avaí FC in his youth before moving to Europe for Inter Milan in 2004 . He stayed there for two years, eight months of which as a loan player at Ipatinga FC and six months on loan at Lazio Rome .

In 2006 Siqueira was signed by Udinese Calcio . On September 19, 2006, he made his Serie A debut in the 1-0 loss to FC Messina . In the 2008/09 season he played on loan for AC Ancona in Serie B and scored the first goal of his professional career on November 22, 2008 against AC Mantova . In 2010 he moved to the Primera División for Granada CF , from where he was loaned to Benfica Lisbon in the 2013/14 season . With Benfica, Siqueira won the Portuguese championship , the cup and the league cup that season .

For the 2014/15 season he moved to Atlético Madrid , where he signed a contract that ran until June 30, 2018. In August 2014 he won the Spanish Super Cup with the club . After he had made 25 appearances in his first season, he was only used once in the first half of the 2015/16 season . As a result, it was awarded to league rivals Valencia CF for a year and a half at the end of January 2016 .

In August 2018, Siqueira, who had been without a club since July 2017, retired at the age of 32 due to a persistent ankle injury.
