Gumshoe Awards
The Gumshoe Awards were a popular American award for criminal literary works. They were awarded from 2002 to 2008 in several categories by the American Internet magazine Mystery Ink (not to be confused with Mystery Inc. ). The magazine provided daily information on the entire world of crime, from reviews to authors, from events to readings and interviews. The editor David J. Montgomery became famous for his (English) crime blog Crime Fiction Dossier, one of the best blogs in the mystery genre.
The “Mystery Ink” magazine was not available in print and was the first online magazine in the world that , as expected, not only awarded prizes to printed novels, but also awarded an award for “Best Crime Internet Site”. Originally, only pages by authors were to be awarded prizes, but this restrictive principle was given up in 2004. As a small bow to crime fiction from the European part of the “Old World”, a new category was introduced in 2005: “ Best European Crime Novel” .
