The Gustav Freytag School is a public integrated secondary school in Berlin-Reinickendorf . The school is located in the south-eastern part of Berlin-Reinickendorf on Breitkopfstraße , near the Breitkopf basin and the Bertha-von-Suttner-Gymnasium . The Gustav Freytag School is also a listed building . It is named after the writer Gustav Freytag .

history

The Gustav Freytag School was built in the 1950s by the Building Department under the direction of Erwin Jorgas. The main building was opened in 1957

Since the 2013/2014 school year, the Gustav Freytag School has been an integrated secondary school with grades 7 to 10.

School profile

The school has a linguistic and musical focus. For example, there is more language teaching in English and French. In this context, the DELF1 exam can be taken at the Gustav Freytag School in cooperation with the “ Center Francais ” . B. a school internship in the 9th grade in a French-speaking institution. The school also has other special offers in the areas of music and theater. For example, there is the opportunity to learn instruments, sing in a choir and play in a school band. The Gustav-Freytag-Schule offers two classes for newcomers without knowledge of German . Since September 2016, a class has been set up in which pupils with the support status “intellectual development” can learn. In cooperation with the “Modul e. V. ”, the school creates an open all-day program.

In addition to the specialist rooms for science, music and art, the school building also has a wood workshop and a teaching kitchen. There is also a school library in the school building. The school also has two sports halls and a small sports field. The school grounds include table tennis tables and basketball hoops. A large part of the school building is barrier-free due to an elevator.

The school building is characterized by its factual, constructive structure, as a typical design element of the 1950s. The facade of the main building is decorated with colorful tiles typical of the time. The main part of the building is connected by single-storey connecting arms with the gym in the north and with the two-storey transverse school building in the south. The schoolyard extends between the two connecting structures and borders the sports field on Reginhardstrasse in the east. At the southern joint, the central heating plant fits seamlessly between the main building and the connecting tract with a high chimney. In front of the main building there is a strip of green that separates the building complex from Breitkopfstraße.
