Gustav Adolf Anrich (born December 2, 1867 in Runzenheim (Alsace) , † November 13, 1930 in Tübingen ) was a German Protestant theologian .

Life

Gustav Adolf Anrich came from a family of pastors and judges who had lived in Strasbourg and Alsace since around 1740, coming from Sargans .

From 1894–1901 he was pastor in Lingolsheim and then headed the Theological Study Foundation in Strasbourg, where he had completed his habilitation in church history in 1894 . In 1903 he was appointed associate professor and in 1914 full professor. From 1919 he was a professor at the University of Bonn and from 1924 at the University of Tübingen . There he officiated as rector from 1928 to 1929 . 1924–1930 he was chairman of the Scientific Institute of the Alsace-Lorraine in the Reich at the University of Frankfurt .

He dealt in particular with ancient church history in connection with the ancient mysteries as well as with the origin of the cult of saints. He also researched the history of the Reformation in his Alsatian homeland, especially with the Strasbourg reformer Martin Bucer . His work on the history of the University of Strasbourg from 1872 to 1918 remained unfinished.

His portrait hangs in the professors' gallery in Tübingen .

From the marriage with Martha born in 1898. Anrich Brahts had two sons, Eduard (* 1899) and Ernst , who were high school director and history professor in Strasbourg.
