Gustav Comberg

Gustav Comberg (born December 18, 1910 in Werden-Land / Essen , † October 13, 1984 in Hanover ) was a German agricultural scientist , breeding researcher and university professor.

Life

After studying agriculture in Bonn and Breslau, Comberg worked at the Research Institute for Animal Breeding in Tschechnitz (1936–1945 Kraftborn ) near Breslau. In 1937 he joined the NSDAP . After the years of military service, Comberg worked in the animal breeding office in Halle / Saale and from 1947 in the animal breeding institute of the Martin Luther University in Halle-Wittenberg as head of the Iden-Rohrbeck branch (Altmark). He completed his habilitation at the University of Halle and was then director of the Institute for Animal Breeding and Dairy Farming and a professor at the University of Leipzig in 1951 . One year later, in 1952, Comberg was given the chair for animal breeding and dairy farming at the agricultural and horticultural faculty at Leipzig University.

Gustav Comberg was a member of the GDR Academy of Agricultural Sciences . From 1960 to 1973 he took over the management of the Institute for Animal Breeding and Heredity Research at the TH Hannover . He died in Hanover at the age of 74.
