Gustav Friedrich Graf von Rosen (born July 6, 1688 in Reval , † June 17, 1769 in Stockholm ) was a Livonian general in the Swedish service.

Life

family

Gustav Friedrich von Rosen came from the von Rosen family , he was a son of the Estonian district administrator and heir to Sellie, Sonorm and Kui, Hans von Rosen († before 1701) and Countess Brita Stenbock († after 1711). He wed first Sophia Lovisa Wachtmeister († 1729), once more with Ebba Margaretha Banér († 1731) and finally a third time with Teodora Beata von Dücker (* 1712). From his second marriage he had a son Friedrich Ulrich von Rosen (1731–1793). The Count's line of those von Rosen, thus donated by him, is still in bloom in Sweden.

career

Gustav Friedrich, who had his goods around Reval and Narva , entered the Swedish military service, accompanied Karl XII in 1709 . to Turkey , defended the same in Warnitza near Bender against the Turks and followed him to Stralsund in 1714 . Here he was able to save King Karl from a very dangerous situation in 1715, which he managed a second time in Norway in 1716 . He became governor of Karlskrona in 1717 . Promoted to major general in 1722 , he joined the Hats Party . 1731 Rose was in the Swedish baron lifted . From 1739 to 1765 Rosen was Imperial Councilor and from 1747 to 1751 Governor General in Finland . It was also raised to the rank of count in Sweden in 1751. He was Commander in Chief of the Swedish Army in Pomerania in the Pomeranian War of 1757/58.
