Gustav Huonker

Gustav Huonker-Frei (born August 11, 1922 in Zurich , entitled to live there ; † May 29, 2019 in Zurich) was a Swiss journalist , publicist and politician ( SP ).

Life

Gustav Huonker graduated from the Küsnacht teacher training college and studied at the universities of Zurich and Lausanne . He worked as a secondary school teacher. From 1961 to 1965 he was the features editor of the social democratic newspaper Volksrecht in Zurich, and later a freelance journalist. He also worked as a journalist and literary historian. From 1970 to 1990 he was a councilor for the city of Zurich.

The historian Thomas Huonker is his younger son.
