Gustav Joseph Richter

Gustav Joseph Richter (born December 3, 1854 in Vienna ; † June 8, 1930 ibid) was a conductor and composer .

Richter studied from 1863 to 1865 at the Conservatory of the Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde , singing with L. Weiss. In 1870 he became a pianist in the Volkssängergesellschaft of Karl Drexler , for whose Singspielhalle he composed several Singspiele at least in 1879 . Founded a ladies' band in 1885, which played in the Prater and went on concert tours (as far as Russia ) in winter . Richter was in charge of his band until around 1918. In 1929 he was still referred to as " music director " on the occasion of a marriage and "Kapellmeister" when he died.

He found his final resting place in an honorary grave in the Vienna Central Cemetery (Group 81B, Row 19, No. 40).
