Gustav Siege (born May 4, 1881 in Znojmo , Austria-Hungary , † 1947 in Vienna ) was an actor and theater director .

Gustav Siege came from an old theater family; his great-grandfather Josef Siege was theater director in Znojmo. Therese Krones , among others, played in his ensemble .

The grandfather Ignaz Siege made guest appearances with his troupe in Lower Austria , Bohemia and Moravia . His father Adolf Siege had been co-director of the company from 1879 and eventually inherited the theater business.

Due to the family tradition, Gustav was influenced by the theater as a child , he took singing lessons with Josef Scheu and performed as an operetta comedian and tenor in Salzburg , Braunschweig , Kiel and Stettin . In 1908 he got an engagement at the Bremen City Theater , but until 1913 he kept moving to other theaters. In 1913 he took over the management of the Marburg City Theater, which he successfully led until the end of Austria-Hungary . He also opened the city cinema in Marburg. For more than two decades he organized the German guest performances in Trenčín-Teplitz in the summer.

After 1918, Gustav Siege worked as an actor and production manager in film and remained in this profession until his death, but he still maintained his membership in the stage association. He was also a member of the Schlaraffia. In 1926 he became director of the lion cinema.

On October 1, 1957, his urn was earthed in the Vienna crematorium and reburied in the Evangelical Cemetery Vienna-Simmering (Urnenhain 239).
