Gustav Trautschold

Gustav Trautschold (born August 23 . Jul / 4. September  1871 greg. In St. Petersburg , Russian Empire , † the thirtieth January 1944 in Berlin , German Empire ) was a German actor , theater director and film director .

Life

He made his debut as an actor in 1892 at the Schleswig City Theater and then came to Hanover , Barmen , Hanau , Metz , Potsdam and Essen . He first directed in Essen in 1902.

In the autumn of 1903 he was hired by the Belle Alliance Theater in Berlin . He initially worked as a director for film and, among others, staged the great Bismarck portrait in 1913 together with William Wauer and Richard Schott . In the 1920s he was only active as an actor.

Trautschold was killed in a bomb attack in 1944. He was the father of the actress Ilse Trautschold (1906–1991) and the draftsman and caricaturist Walter Trautschold .
