Gustav Adolf Winter (born May 11, 1882 in Magdeburg , † October 30, 1936 in Halle ) was a German politician and author (pseudonym: Plato ).

Life

Winter came from Großjena and worked as a company lawyer. In 1927 he founded the Volksbund for "Truth and Law", which was supposed to enforce the revaluation of the red-stamped pre-war thousand mark notes at the Reichsbank . Winter came into conflict with the law as part of this effort and was sentenced to one year and three months in prison for fraud.

In the Reich presidential election in 1932 , Gustav A. Winter, who was still incarcerated in the Bautzen State Prison for fraud , was nominated as a candidate for inflation victims, but only received 0.3% of the votes in the first ballot, after which he withdrew his candidacy.

In the 1930s he propagated the “Orga-Urkult” or the so-called geomagneto culture. According to Winter, this should enable improvements in agricultural yields to be made possible by using geomagnetism and doing without artificial fertilizers . However, tests carried out by the State Institute for Plant Cultivation and Plant Protection in Munich in 1935 only yielded negative results.

At the beginning of 1936, on the basis of the ordinance of the Reich President for the protection of the German people of February 4, 1933, all his writings for the area of Saxony were confiscated and confiscated.

On October 26, 1936, a trial began against Winter and seven other defendants before the Central German Special Court in Halle for violating the law against the formation of new parties of July 14, 1933. The indictment was u. a. on "maintaining, continuing and rebuilding the so-called 'winter movement' after the party ban"; in addition, Winter is said to have cheated his followers out of 50,000 marks.

On October 30, 1936, Winter committed suicide in the court prison before the trial was over .

After the end of the Second World War, his work The Rescue of Germany without New Money (Verlag Truth and Law, Großjena bei Naumburg 1934) was placed on the list of literature to be sorted out.
