Gustav von Bodelschwingh (born November 3, 1872 in Gadderbaum , today Bielefeld , † February 26, 1944 ) was a German Protestant pastor and missionary .

Life

He was born the son of Friedrich von Bodelschwingh (1831-1910) and Ida von Bodelschwingh.

He was assistant preacher in Bethel and Dünne , later mission secretary of the Bethel mission. In the years 1912–1916 he worked as a missionary in Mlalo ( German East Africa ) and on the island of Idschwi in Lake Kiwu on the border of the Congo state .

After the First World War he worked as a pastor in Ahle near Bünde ( Westphalia ) and in Dünne. Bodelschwingh is known as his father's biographer and promoter of building his own homes based on the clay construction method customary in East Africa , the thin clay bread method . He is the founder of Heimstätte Dünne GmbH, which to this day propagates and operates the idea of ​​building as a social process.
