Gustl Lütjens

Gustl Lütjens (born June 22, 1952 in Flensburg ; † September 28, 2017 in Werneuchen ) was a German guitarist. He was first known as the guitarist of the prog rock band Agitation Free and also worked as a film composer .

Life

Gustl Lütjens started out as a jazz musician before joining the progressive rock band Agitation Free in 1973 . With these he played the two albums 2nd (1975) and Last (1976, released after the dissolution) until the dissolution in 1975 .

After the dissolution, he mainly worked as a session musician. So he performed with Shirley Bassey and was heard on the singles Far too much luck (1993) and Halt dich fest (1994) by Nena . His own band Living Mirrors , which played New Age , was particularly popular in the United States. He also wrote the music for the films I know, I know, I've been! (1981), Five Beers and One Coffee (1990) and Fallwurf Böhme (2014).

In 1998 he took part in the reunion of Agitation Free and released with them the reunion album River of Return . From then on he was on tour with the band several times. He also founded the rock band Station 3 and Die wilden Buben , a band that is dedicated to folk music and performs at Oktoberfest .

Lütjens died on September 28, 2017 at the age of 65.
