The Good Calmuth is in Calmuth Valley between Remagen and Oberwinter situated farm .

history

In 1895, the wealthy Cologne entrepreneur Max von Guilleaume acquired the estate in the Calmuth Valley, which was formerly the cloister courtyard of the Benedictine Propstei Apollinarisberg in Remagen. The idyllic house looked modest back then; Guilleaume had it extensively rebuilt and expanded based on designs by Otto March until 1911 . A representative mansion was built, called Schloss Calmuth . The heirs sold the building in 1934 to the Reich Youth Leadership , whose members also used it for the Hitler Youth .

From 1946 to 1996 the estate was the headquarters of Internationale Film-Union GmbH in Remagen.

In December 2008, the Bonn entrepreneur Frank Asbeck bought the property. Asbeck, a passionate hunter , wants to convert the building into a forester's house and go hunting in the surrounding woods . As he also wanted to do forestry , he was keen to acquire more forest areas beyond the 20 hectares of the former Film Union, wrote the Rhein-Zeitung on December 16. After a purchase agreement for 100 hectares had already been signed with a private forest owner , Asbeck also asked the Remagen city council. He wants to purchase another 100 hectares of forest on Scheidskopf from the city .

In 2010 Asbeck fenced in the grounds of the estate, which led to controversy among the public.
