Taylor Creek is a census-designated place (CDP) in Okeechobee County in the US state of Florida with 4,348 inhabitants (as of 2010).

Taylor Creek is located on the north shore of Lake Okeechobee and is about 5 km southeast of Okeechobee and about 160 km south of Orlando . The CDP is crossed on a common route by the US Highways 98 and 441 ( SR 15 ).

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the 4348 inhabitants at that time were distributed over 2697 households. The population density was 418.1 inh / km². 93.5% of the population identified themselves as whites, 1.0% as African American , 0.6% as Indians and 1.4% as Asian Americans . 2.2% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 1.2% to several ethnic groups. 8.2% of the population was made up of Hispanics or Latinos .

In 2010 children under the age of 18 lived in 18.7% of all households and persons aged 65 and over lived in 45.8% of all households. 57.8% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.15 people and the average family size was 2.67 people.

17.6% of the population were younger than 20 years, 18.6% were 20 to 39 years old, 26.3% were 40 to 59 years old, and 37.6% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 51 years. 51.0% of the population were male and 49.0% were female.

The median annual income was $ 26,468, with 26.6% of the population living below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the first language of 93.73% of the population and 6.27% spoke Spanish .
