Cypress Quarters is a census-designated place (CDP) in Okeechobee County in the US state of Florida with a population of 1215 (as of 2010).

Cypress Quarters is directly adjacent to the city of Okeechobee to the west and is approximately 160 km south of Orlando . The CDP is crossed by Florida State Road 70 .

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the then 1215 inhabitants were distributed over 564 households. The population density was 173.6 inh / km². 33.3% of the population identified themselves as whites , 58.0% as African American , 1.2% as Indians and 1.6% as Asian Americans . 4.5% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 1.4% to several ethnic groups. 12.1% of the population were Hispanics or Latinos .

In 2010 children under 18 years of age and 32.8% of all households lived in 40.7% of all households with persons at least 65 years of age. 69.8% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.98 people and the average family size was 3.63 people.

31.5% of the population were younger than 20 years, 23.4% were 20 to 39 years old, 26.1% were 40 to 59 years old, and 19.3% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 36 years. 47.8% of the population were male and 52.2% were female.

The median annual income was $ 24,775, with 31.2% of the population living below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the first language of 96.06% of the population and 3.94% spoke Spanish .
