Mansion

Gut Rödinghausen is located in the district of Lendringsen in the city of Menden (Sauerland) and was the ancestral seat of the Barons von Dücker , a Westphalian noble family. Gut Rödinghausen is home to the Menden Industrial Museum .

History and description of the building

The elongated mansion was built in 1807 as a half-timbered eaves house, probably on the remains of a previous building. Its year of construction results from a weathered foundation stone dated 1807, which is in the basement of the building. The house was built in the classical style and is divided into 11 axes . The left wing of the building is two-story, the right three-story. In the central axis above the two-winged entrance portal with skylight and a single flight of stairs there is a decorative fronton in the lower area of the mansard hipped roof. A coat of arms from the previous building from 1698 is attached above the entrance. To the right and left of the dwelling and in the upper area of the mansard hipped roof are several dormer windows .

The mansion is almost entirely of grave sites of Hönne surrounded. The ditch behind the house is followed by the historic park with old trees, which is bounded to the west by the course of the Hönne and extends to the north to Landstrasse 537.

Access avenue

Gut Rödinghausen can be reached from the north via a narrow access avenue through a segmental arched gate that leads through the western part of the economic building. In the archway there is an alliance coat of arms with a keystone and the year 1875. The farm building extends over the north flank of the property. Other buildings stand on the east and south flanks of the property and were built only slightly later.

Todays use

The manor house , the farm buildings and the park of the goods have been entered in the list of monuments of the city Menden (Sauerland) on 25 July 1983rd

In 2007 the city of Menden decided to buy the manor house (main building) in order to prevent the alleged settlement of an NPD training home in Menden. Due to its poor condition, the manor house had to be extensively renovated at the expense of the general public. A use was hardly possible due to the purchase contract (including rights of use for the previous owner, outbuildings remained with the previous owner) but also due to the monument protection.

In 2019, a small industrial museum was set up on the second floor of the manor house .

The KunstFest Passagen has been held once a year at Gut Rödinghausen since 2019, funded by the Kunststiftung NRW and supported by the city of Menden as the organizer.
