Gut Seligenstadt (officially Seligenstadt ) is an estate and district of the community Prosselsheim in the Lower Franconian district of Würzburg in Bavaria .

geography

The place is about 14 kilometers northeast of Würzburg on the fertile loess plates of the Main Triangle . It mainly consists of a large manor and a few houses.

history

Seligenstadt was mentioned for the first time in 918. The place has belonged to Prosselsheim for several centuries.

In 1499 there were 21 destroyed farms in Seligenstadt. Much of the land was undeveloped, and the people of Seligenstadt had dispersed into the surrounding towns. In 1582–83, Prince-Bishop Julius Echter had the field property bought up and large leases formed from it.

Today Seligenstadt is the largest manor in Bavaria with around 600 hectares of arable land . It is operated by the Juliusspital Würzburg Foundation . There is a Catholic court church within the estate. The mean annual temperature is 9.0 ° C.

traffic

The district road WÜ 5 / KT 7 to Euerfeld leads through the village. The Würzburg – Bamberg railway runs about 100 m to the west .
