The Lancken manor is a manor house in Lancken, a district of Dranske in the district of Vorpommern-Rügen . The two-story brick building was erected in 1608 and remained in the possession of the Lancken family for almost 300 years . Today it is in an extremely desolate condition despite its attractive location and architecture. The ruin of the manor house and the park with its main avenue are included in the list of architectural monuments in the district of Vorpommern-Rügen.

history

The manor house was built in 1608 on behalf of Christoph von der Lancken in its current location as part of a newly created estate. In two further construction phases, around 1680 and around 1720, the building was expanded to two storeys and received its present shape.

The estate was owned by the von der Lancken family until 1878 before it was sold to Max Wandhausen. By marriage, the property came into the possession of the Klincke family, who were expropriated in 1945 and the property thus became state property of the GDR . After 1945 the estate was relocated and the mansion was used as a refugee camp.

The increasing deterioration of the complex caused the last residents of the house to leave in 1963. It has been empty since then and is becoming increasingly dilapidated. Plans to convert the mansion into a holiday home with a golf resort have not (yet) been put into practice. In 2007 the roof was made weatherproof with tarpaulins and wooden slats. Despite the start of renovation work, the building continues to fall into disrepair, although it is one of the oldest surviving manor houses in Western Pomerania, which was devastated by many wars. The manor park is an outstanding creation from 1720 to 1730, which, in the event of renovation , could qualitatively surpass the better-known Juliusruh Park , which was also created by the von der Lancken family from 1795, due to many rudimentary details.

building

The manor house is a two-storey eaves - standing brick building of the late Renaissance with crooked hips on both gables . Both floors have eight window axes. The windows on the upper floor are rectangular; on the ground floor with a round arch. Two of the ground floor windows were replaced by a large entrance portal. At the south-western gable and the south-eastern eaves side of the house, there were former extensions that have now been almost completely removed. A steep rafter roof with several bat dormers on both main roof surfaces forms the end of the roof .

Nothing has been preserved from the once rich furnishings of the manor house. Inside, a three-flight staircase led to the upper floor, the wooden ceiling of the entrance hall was decorated with paintings and stucco work that had been made around 1800 in individual rooms. Only the half-timbered interior walls have survived inside the building, some of them with infills, and some unadorned wooden ceilings.

park

The baroque estate park is located in front of the building to the southeast. The approximately 35,000 m² facility was laid out between 1720 and 1730 and expanded in the 19th century. The manor house is located at the northwest end of the central axis.
