Guy Lehoux (born October 19, 1971 in Disraeli , Québec ) is a former German - Canadian ice hockey player who was active for nine seasons in the German Ice Hockey League and seven in the American Hockey League .
Career
Lehoux began his career in 1988 in the Canadian Junior League Québec Major Junior Hockey League with the Chicoutimi Saguenéens . There he only played one season and then moved within the league to the Drummondville Voltigeurs . In Drummondville , the left-handed shooter was able to improve steadily and in his second year scored 34 points in 63 games. Logically, those responsible for the Toronto Maple Leafs became aware of the then 20-year-old. During the NHL Entry Draft 1991 they selected him in the ninth round at a total of 179th position.
Lehoux then moved to the American Hockey League to the St. John's Maple Leafs , the then farm team of the Toronto Maple Leafs. The 1.80 m tall defender immediately belonged to the regular squad and showed his talent several times. Despite good performances, he never got the chance to prove himself in the NHL . Finally, he decided for the 1997/98 season to switch to the DEL to the Schwenninger Wild Wings . He was also able to convince in Schwenningen and recommend himself to be involved in the NHL. At the end of the season he received another offer from the Toronto Maple Leafs, which he finally accepted. After he was only used in their farm team there, Lehoux returned to the Wild Wings for the 1998/99 season .
In the summer of 2000 he moved to the Nürnberg Ice Tigers, for which he went on the ice for five years. There he was one of the top performers in the team and was also one of the audience favorites. His best season was also his last in Nuremberg . In the 2003/04 season he was able to achieve 21 scorer points in 51 games and also had a plus / minus statistics of +18. After a short interlude with the Krefeld Pinguinen , he signed a contract with the Kassel Huskies in 2005, with whom he was relegated to the 2nd Bundesliga in his first season. After a narrowly missed direct re-promotion in 2007, the promotion succeeded one season later. Guy Lehoux made a name for himself as an important support on the defensive of the huskies. Nevertheless, his expiring contract was not extended.
After all, it was those responsible at Schwenninger Wild Wings who were able to convince him of a renewed commitment to his long-term employer. Guy Lehoux played again with the Wild Wings in the 2nd Bundesliga from the 2008/09 season . His contract ran until the end of the 2009/10 season and was not renewed. Since then, he was initially without a club before the Sherbrooke Saint-François signed him .
