Guy Longnon

Guy Longnon (born July 16, 1924 - † February 4, 2014 ) was a French jazz trumpeter , arranger and music teacher who was active in the jazz scene of Marseille .

Longnon played from the early 1950s a. a. with Raymond Fol , Don Byas , Sidney Bechet , Mezz Mezzrow , "Big Chief" Russell Moore , Claude Luter , Jean Claude Fohrenbach , Guy Lafitte , André Persiany , Albert Nicholas , Gérard Pochonet and Mustache . In the field of jazz he was involved in sixty recording sessions between 1950 and 1958; he also played in the orchestras of Michel Attenoux and André Réwéliotty , in Paris with Boris Vian . During this time he also wrote film music for the short films Terreur en Oklahoma (1951) and Chicago Digest (1952).

Longnon created a first jazz class in 1963 on the initiative of Pierre Barbizet at the Conservatoire National à Rayonnement Regional (CNRR) in Marseille. His students included u. a. Pierre Christophe , André Jaume , Bruno Angelini, Gérald Bataille, Caparros Jose, Gérard Sumian and Jean-Marc Padovani . Philippe Renault, from 1992 successor to Guy Longnon at the CNRR in Marseille, founded the Jazz Groupe D6 , which recorded a tribute album in 2013 in honor of Lognon, Kind of Guy .

Guy Longnon is the uncle of jazz musician Jean-Loup Longnon (* 1953).
