The Hankensbüttel grammar school is a grammar school in Hankensbüttel in Lower Saxony. It is the oldest grammar school in the Gifhorn district and the only grammar school in the so-called northern district, the former Isenhagen district .

history

In 1947 the forerunner of today's high school was established as a private high school facility. In May 1951 the school received the right to award the secondary school leaving certificate. Years 12 and 13 were taught for the first time in 1953/54. In 1954 the private school was recognized as a public educational institution. The school has been called "Gymnasium" since 1956. On the occasion of the school's 50th anniversary, the entire school took a star hike in 1997 on the Wurmberg in the Harz Mountains .

Due to the increased space requirement and the elimination of the orientation level since the 2004/05 school year, lessons are held at several locations in Hankensbüttel. In 2014, 1132 students were taught by 90 teachers.

particularities

Bilingual classes have been offered since 1998 .

In 2003 the high school was awarded the “Smoke-Free School Lower Saxony” seal of approval by the then Lower Saxony Minister for Social Affairs, Women, Family and Health Ursula von der Leyen and the then Lower Saxony Minister of Education, Bernd Busemann .

The Abitur classes were named up to 2002 with the designation “SEK2” (for secondary level II ) and capital Latin letters in ascending order (e.g. “SEK2W” for the Abitur class of 1999). Since 2003, this designation has been made using the Greek alphabet and small letters (e.g. "SEK2β" or "SEK2beta" for the 2004 high school graduation). In 2011, due to Lower Saxony's changeover to the “G8” school system, two years passed the Abitur together. However, these both keep their original year names (SEK II Iota and SEK II Kappa), so that the high school year 2012 was called "Sek II Lambda".

The school fanfare for the 50th anniversary was composed by Hans Kielblock.
