The Häverstädter Berg is a 270  m high mountain in the Wiehengebirge . The summit is on the border of the East Westphalian cities of Minden and Bad Oeynhausen in the Minden-Lübbecke district . The eastern area of the elongated mountain ridge is already in the area of the city of Porta Westfalica .

The name of the mountain comes from the town of Häverstädt , today a district of Minden, which lies north of the mountain. There are no places immediately south of the mountain; here the Weser flows and describes the famous Great Weser Arch, which is sung about in the Weserlied . There is a trigonometric point on the top of the mountain .

The village of Königsberg protrudes far into the Wiehengebirge, up to 170 meters. In the south, the forest extends as far as federal highway 61 , and sometimes even beyond it.

The mountain is located on a medium-narrow point of the ridge-like Wiehengebirge, which is around 1,000 meters wide here. The Wittekindsweg runs just north of the summit .

The Häverstädter Berg, like almost all mountains in the Wiehengebirge, has an elongated ridge peak (Egge) and is only separated from the peaks to the west by Dören . Therefore, the mountain is only partially perceived as a prominent peak.

The southern flank of the mountain is one of the steepest sections of the Wiehengebirge. At 340 meters, the terrain drops from 245 to 75 meters in altitude. As a result, there are downright rugged and rocky sections here, rather untypical for the Wiehengebirge, such as in the area of the Habichtswand . The Wiehengebirge is not directly passable here on roadways and represents a real obstacle to the terrain. Most of the southern slope of this mountain section belongs to the Wittekindsberg nature reserve .

Wittekindsburg lies 700 meters east of the summit, also on a ridge . It was a large fortress from the Saxon times. Today there is an excursion restaurant with a mountain hotel built at the end of the 19th century within its walls. There is also a launch pad for hang-gliders in this area. The Moltketurm , an observation tower, is 200 meters away . 1,000 meters further south-west of the summit is the Dehmer Castle ground monument .

At the foot of the southern mountain slope, directly below the Moltketurm and not far from the Weser, lies Gut Wedigenstein . To the west of this is a 12 hectare area of grassland on the steep mountain slope between the aforementioned county road and about 100 meters above sea level. No forest , but agricultural use of such rugged terrain is very unusual for the Wiehengebirge.
