The Héðinsfjarðargöng are road tunnel in the northeast of Iceland on the peninsula Tröllaskagi .

With the direct road connection through Siglufjarðarvegur S76 , the distance between Ólafsfjörður and Siglufjörður is only 17 km. Before this tunnel, the route of Ólafsfjarðarvegurs S82 over the Lágheiði plateau was about 60 km longer. And if this route was impassable due to the weather, it was even necessary to drive 230 km on the ring road .

The new connection consists of two tunnels. The section between Siglufjörður and Héðinsfjörður has been broken since March 2009 and is 3.7 kilometers long. In the uninhabited Héðinsfjörður a 600 m short road runs, which then leads through the 6.9 km long tunnel (breakthrough in April 2009) to Ólafsfjörður. The specified length results from the access roads. The roads and the tunnels are two-lane and opened on October 2, 2010.
