The Hôtel de Ville (German town hall) in Melun , a French city and seat of the prefecture of the Seine-et-Marne department , was built between 1847 and 1850. The town hall on Rue Paul-Doumer was built according to the plans of the architect Jean-Jacques Gilson.
architecture
A stair tower made of bricks from the former monastery, which was located on the site of today's town hall, was integrated into the two-storey building. The sculptor Eugène Godin, who also created the statue of Jacques Amyot in the forecourt, was responsible for the stone carvings.
The arched portal is flanked by columns . Above it is an arbor between pilasters , which is crowned by the coat of arms of the city of Melun, a clock and a turret with a bell. The skylights are richly decorated with stone walls and acroteries .
