Hörmann-Reisen GmbH is a family-run bus and tourism company in Augsburg .

history

Adler from 1936

In 1900 the Hörmann family introduced a courier from Rehling to Augsburg. Thirty years later the motorization began with a truck from Chevrolet . In 1933, an Opel truck with upholstered double seats was also put into service and used in regular service. A year later, taxi operations started with a vehicle from the Adlerwerke . In 1936 the first buses, an Opel Blitz with 28 seats and an Adler with 10 seats, were purchased for excursions.

In 1945 Jakob Hörmann took over the company management. The company introduced catering on board in 1955 and included tourist trips, including to Lourdes and Rome, in its program. In 1971 the depot in Unterach was built . Jakob Hörmann's son Xaver took over management of the company in the same year. With the opening of a travel agency in Augsburg, Hörmann-Reisen was founded . For the first time, the company presented its own travel program with the destinations Vienna , Paris , Rome and the Costa Brava . In addition to the expansion of the company premises, there was also an increase in comfort on board the buses, including the installation of on-board toilets, reclining seats and an on-board kitchen. Winter trips became more and more important for the company in the 1970s, including to Ischgl , Galtür and the French Méribel .

With the establishment of the Augsburg Transport and Tariff Association (AVV) in 1985, local public transport in and around Augsburg was reorganized. Hörmann-Reisen was a founding member and incorporated its lines, which it had operated independently for decades, into the AVV concept; the operation of the new AVV lines began in 1989. In 1992, Hörmann-Reisen opened the first TUI Travel Center in Augsburg, thus expanding its travel spectrum beyond the bus travel market.

In 2005, the company's headquarters were relocated to the city center of Augsburg, bringing together bus travel sales, the TUI ReiseCenter and administration. When the vehicle fleet was renewed in 2009, the idea arose in cooperation with the Regio Augsburg Tourismus GmbH to express the local ties by naming the buses after the city's special cultural treasures or carriers: the Romans, Jakob Fugger, Bert Brecht, Martin Luther, Mozart and the doll box. Philipp Hörmann became managing director alongside Xaver Hörmann in 2012. A year later, the company also offered cruises.

In 2009 the company modernized its fleet of coaches with six 5-star long-distance coaches, followed by two more buses with 27 seats in the 5-star segment in 2011. This was followed in 2012/2013 by the first two Setra S 419 GT-HD touring coaches in the greater Augsburg area with a length of 15 meters and a 5-star pitch. In 2014, high-quality 5-star long-distance coaches from the Setra S 431 DT series, double-decker buses with glass roof and Euro standard 6, S 516 HD, were added to the fleet.

Hörmann has been a partner at MeinFernbus since 2013

Hörmann-Reisen became a bus partner at MeinFernbus in 2013 with lines from Augsburg and Munich to Saarbrücken, Essen, Leipzig, Vienna and Milan. In 2014, the company ordered several Setra touring coaches valued at EUR 4.5 million, making the largest investment since the company was founded. In 2015, the company held line concessions for nine AVV lines in the Augsburg area with an annual performance of around 511,000 timetable kilometers. All lines went to other companies as part of Europe-wide tenders by the AVV on January 1, 2016.

Awards

Awarded Spaceliner 1982

In 1982 the company received first prize from the public jury in the “Body” category for its Spaceliner N117 at the AMI'82 international bus competition in Portoroz. The laudatory speech said: “The holiday bus with pine trees, the setting sun, the paintwork in the symbolic colors green = nature, yellow = beach and blue = sea, (...) stood out among the 124 buses of the AMI'82 (Autobus-Meeting International ) out. It attracted attention, approval and enthusiasm among young and old. "

In 2007, Hörmann-Reisen was the first bus tour operator in Bavaria to bear the quality mark of the Quality Association for Bus Comfort for qualified bus chauffeurs. At the international media and innovation award of the RDA 2014, the “Red Bus”, Hörmann-Reisen took first place in the “Top Marketing” category. At the award ceremony at the RDA workshop in Cologne, the jury referred to the broad advertising strategy that extended to local television. The cooperation with Stage Entertainment was also awarded.

Hörmann-Reisen also received an award in 2006 for the low-floor bus fleet, as this guarantees accessibility in AVV regional bus traffic. In 2011, the buses used by Hörmann-Reisen were awarded the Blue Angel environmental protection certificate in AVV line transport .
